RE: ConEst Estimating Software

In today's world of estimating software, there are several programs available to the electrical industry, however, all are not created equal.

Over the past few years I have seen companies take a relatively good DOS based program, convert it to a Windows application program, only to produce a product with dismal results. Others have maintained their DOS program and will to the end. The end is very near. Still, others have created a Windows program to take advantage of the ever-expanding capabilities of a 32-bit operating system only to leave the estimator with a very rigid or unforgiving working platform, i.e., multiple job databases, non-networking capability, difficulty in locating database items, pre-assembled assemblies that mock the NEC. Until now.

I am convinced that ConEst has produced a state-of-the-art estimating system that will take the electrical industry into the year 2000 and beyond. Why? Simply put, the system allows the estimator to do just that, estimate the project based on the project parameters, not the software's best guess of the project parameters. This is evident from the Take-Off screen to the Bid Recap screen. The system also provides a working platform for the Take-off technician while exposing them to the intricacies of a total project estimate. The goal of ConEst is not to write more work, but to provide an accurate estimate so the electrical contractor can decide which projects to contract and which projects to walk away from.

ConEst has made a commitment to listening to their customers' ideas and suggestions for program improvements, aggressively seeking to implement these ideas and more while providing and excellent technical support system.

I recommend this program to any electrical contractor that wants expand their estimating capabilities and accuracy.
